More Than I Could Ask For...

Daniel and Morgan have a special bond. He has been there for her from second one. It was Daniel who got to see Morgan for the first time (he said the first thing he noticed was her beautiful eyelashes). It was he who flew with her to San Francisco and it was he (other than doctors) who changed her first diaper and gave her, her first bottle in the hospital. I thought I was going to be the one to show Daniel how to do these things and although I’ll always be disappointed that I didn’t get to witness these moments, I’m so thankful that Morgan had her daddy. After I awoke from anesthesia, the doctors told me that Morgan was going to be airlifted to San Francisco. It gave me great comfort knowing that her dad was going to be with her. I can’t imagine how scared I would have felt if he hadn’t been able to be by her side. I remember how weird it felt to show up in San Francisco a few days after she was born and meet her for the first time. I remember feeling so strange that it was Daniel who ended up showing ME how to change her diaper and give her a bottle without disturbing the tubes and wires hooked up to her. I truly believe that those first days where Daniel had to quickly figure out how to be the one and only parent for Morgan created a bond between them that will never be broken. I know it gave Daniel a confidence that he hadn’t expected.

Obviously, I’m not just thankful that Daniel was there for those first few crucial days, I’m thankful for every day since. Daniel is an amazing father who brings so much to the table. I couldn’t and wouldn’t want to do it alone. I know Father’s Day has already passed but I wanted to write this to say thanks to Daniel for being an amazing Father. Morgan is a very lucky girl!

Just a few months ago I saw the first 3 pictures below for the first time. I never got to see Daniel in scrubs so when Dusty showed me these pictures she had forgotten she took, I was really excited and a little sad only because it brought me back.
Even though Daniel wasn't in the room when they took Morgan by c-section (they didn't have time to prep him to be in there) they had him suit up just in case.

He got to be in the nursery though while they tried to figure out what was going on with her.

This is all I got to see of her before they flew to San Francisco. I was very disappointed because a nurse had just come in to tell me I was going to see her before she left. I had pictured holding my little girl for the first time and was stunned when they brought her in like this.

And so the story begins of a little girl and her dad...
