Family Adventure!

Daniel had a weekend day off which is my cue for family day planning. I love adventuring out with our family of 4. 

The girls LOVE picnics! Every time I mention picnics they squeal with excitement.

Unfortunately by the time we actually started our walk, it was midday and really, really hot. Charlotte was tired and wasn't having it. She cried and screamed our whole walk down to the river we were trying to find. I was so stressed out because I knew I was asking too much from her. It was so hot and she was tired but we kept on. I was hoping after she got to the river she'd cool down and be okay.

Morgan was intrigued by this horse we saw during our walk. It was a Fresno State student on the horse. I loved their matching red.

We finally found the river after what felt like hours of Charlotte being hysterical. It was awful. I lost my patience with her which is odd since I was actually not mad at her, I more felt so guilty that she was so upset.

Morgan was so excited when she saw the river! We found a perfect shady spot that was cool. I was so proud of our Morgan because on our hike to the river we walked in this rough grassy area and Morgan got cut really bad by a barbed wire fence. She was bleeding a decent amount and she didn't even react. Normally the smallest boo boo sends her over the deep end so to see her calmly handle a big cut with blood streaming from it was wonderful! I honestly think she knew that we were all struggling with Charlotte being so upset and there being nothing we could do about it at the moment so she toughed it out for us. Thank you my sweet Morgan. Thank you.

Morgan jumped right in and immediately starting having the time of her life! 

Poor little Charlotte sprawled out on a blanket I brought to calm down. After she had time to recoup, she was happy again.

What is this silly child doing? 

We found these along the river's edge. I'm actually not sure what they are. At first I thought raspberry because they're red but I actually think they were blackberries because the softer ones were black.

I didn't realize that we were actually going to be able to swim. I thought we were only going to walk over some rocks in water and maybe get our feet wet so I didn't dress correctly. I didn't let my lack of swimsuit stop me though. I still got in and swam with my girls. 

All in all we had an amazing day! It really felt like a little family adventure. I feel like these types of outings are the ones I remember most as a child.
