Lots of Recently Enjoyed Things!

A man and his dog. True love.

We've been getting lots of use out of our back yard. Even in this ridiculous heat!
Organized mess created by my girls.

 Lots of
 sister time!

A girl and her (mommy's) phone!

Cute girl with a cute backpack.
An upside down Sophia backpack none the less.

Father's Day 2014!

We started our morning with a special breakfast for Daniel and Morgan gave him a picture she made for him too.
We of course attended the annual Blues Festival in town. I'm so happy we found the perfect way to celebrate Daniel. He looks forward to this day all year long and this year didn't disappoint.

This year Aunt Dusty and Cousin Chase joined us and we had a blast!

We're lucky to have Daniel in our lives and love him dearly. We're already looking forward to next year. This is becoming a special event for the entire family. I think the girls will always fondly remember Father's Day with their daddy.
I didn't get to celebrate with my dad but I want to make up for it. I have the best Dad in the world and there's not a day that goes by that I'm not thankful for him.

Morgan's Last Day Of School!

I can't believe it's been a month now that Morgan has been out of school. The days have already flown by! I tried to make her last day special so I made a special lunch for her below. She especially liked the Hello Kitty sticker.
 Morgan on her last day...
And Morgan on her first day of Transitional Kindergarten below...
I didn't realize how much she's grown until looking at the below picture. I can't help but be a little sad. I know I shouldn't be but I am.
Anyway, Daniel picked up the girls from school and daycare and had a pool waiting on them.
Daniel and I had made a tub full of water balloons the night before. It was both Daniel and my first time doing this and you should have seen us. It was definitely a comedy act. These things aren't easy to make!
When I came home we had a surprise water balloon fight for them! The girls loved it and I enjoyed watching Daniel have such a good time with his girls.

I love that in so many of our pictures you can see trusty ole Maggie hanging out with the family. We love her.
We had fun celebrating Morgan's last day of her first year of school! Can't believe it all starts again in a little over a month from now!

Recently Enjoyed Things - Summer Edition!

The girls came home the other day with their hair in braids thanks to their daycare provider. I need to take the time to do this more often because I love how it looks.

The girls and I sat outside and enjoyed the warm summer breeze after a very hot day. I love spending time with them like this. I gave all three of us manicures. This was Morgan's first time getting an actual color on her nails. Always before has only been clear with sparkles. She was thrilled!

I feel like it's been a summer of fruits and vegetables! Below are some berries Morgan picked from a fruit stand.
Thanks to our garden we've been enjoying lots of fresh zucchini, tomatoes and strawberries too.
We have a couple of watermelons growing in our garden. We're all very excited about these but I've gone to battle with this plant. It got aphids and ants so I researched and tried different things and succeeded in getting rid of them but now there are black spots growing on the watermelons. I'm hoping to be able to salvage them but we'll see. I'm learning at least.
Morgan loves sunflowers and asked if we could grow some this year. I ran out of room in our back garden so we planted some seeds in our front flower bed. It was neat to witness the process from seed to full plant. After planting them in the front of our house, I fretted and fretted because I pictured those weed looking sunflowers that grow along the highway and kicked myself for not tucking those suckers in our backyard. I was so relieved to see that the seeds I picked out were actually rather pretty versions. Again, I'm thankful that Morgan exposed me to something I wouldn't have tried otherwise.
Every morning I glance over at them on my way to work and smile.
I've been enjoying making colorful dishes with our abundance of summer fruits and veggies.

The girls nicely entertained themselves while I made dinner which always makes the process so much more enjoyable.

Zucchini from our garden. I've made zucchini sausage boats, zucchini pizza, zucchini casseroles, baked zucchini fries and zucchini brownies and I'm not done yet. I still have other recipes to try. I can't wait to make zucchini bread!
Morgan saw me taking pictures so she wanted to take some with her camera too.

Memorial Day Weekend!

I already posted that we took Charlotte to her very first movie in the theater on Memorial Day Weekend but we got in some other fun stuff too.
I dropped Charlotte off at daycare so Morgan and I could spend some one on one time together.
She and I did some cooking.
And we played some board games too.
Morgan's ballet teacher gave her this little bouquet the night of her recital and we both thought it was darling.
Before the weekend ended, we made a trip to our park too. It was a really nice long weekend.
