Spring Park Picnic!

I try to take full advantage of when Daniel has weekend days off. This day we headed to a gorgeous local park for a picnic.

The girls ate McDonald's (healthy, I know) and Daniel and I grubbed on some Japanese food.

Daniel suggested Charlotte try to pet the duck and she really, really tried. So much so, that Daniel took off after her out of fear she was going to go in the water after the duck. Hey, it was his idea.

The below picture if a bit of an inside joke for us. He was trying to imitate those awkward photos people do in trees. I think he nailed it!

After our picnic, we headed to an area for the girls to play and then we were going to go on a hike next to a creek. Charlotte, however, was having boot issues (it wouldn't stay on her foot) so we headed home instead for naps.
You just have to get out and enjoy beautiful weather like this!

Morgan's First Book!

Daniel and I have been blown away at Morgan's progress since starting Transitional Kindergarten! She read us her very first book the other day! We were all so excited.
Morgan didn't know how to write letters before starting this year and now she's not only writing but reading too. Getting to see her progress and learn has been fascinating. It's something I never thought about looking forward to before.

I couldn't help but look at her cute little feet while she read.

 Charlotte and Maggie are buddies.
 Morgan's first book she read!
The Space Shuttle
Afterwards - tickles and play time with Daddy! I'm proud of my little family.

Mountains!

We recently took a trip up to the mountains and honestly it wasn't a good trip. I had been trying to plan a snow trip like this for a couple of years. I know someone who works at this really nice hotel at the entrance of Yosemite and she was able to get us a cabin at a really low price. I was so excited but it turned out to be one of those trips that was just more work than enjoyment.
For instance the day we tried to go hiking we'd get all ready to start and Charlotte would have a dirty diaper, so after taking off 10 layers of clothing to change her diaper we'd be all ready to go again and then Morgan would have to go to the bathroom, so we'd hike back to the restrooms, get her all situated and then as we'd finally start our snow play, Charlotte would throw a tantrum. After a few hours of just trying to start our day, we gave up and headed home. To say I was disappointed and sad is an understatement but that's just the way it goes with little ones sometimes and honestly every trip we've ever taken has been a success so it was bound to happen eventually.
However, after saying all of that, looking back at these pictures makes me realize that we still had good moments. Matter of fact, Morgan has fondly talked about our trip to the mountains numerous times since.
The cabin was tucked into the woods at the entrance of Yosemite.
We brought all of our food to save money.
The night we arrived at the cabin we ate dinner and then headed over to a fire pit to make smores!

The smores were yummy and happily consumed.
Charlotte checked out the lobby to the hotel.
Once we got back to our room, we discovered that the lock on our cabin door malfunctioned leaving us out in the cold waiting on maintenance to arrive. Daniel passed the time by starting a snow ball fight with the girls.
The maintenance guy proceeded to work on our lock in our room until about 10 o'clock at night and so begins the trip I hadn't anticipated...
The next day we went out in search of snow. As you can see this spot wasn't going to cut it so we moved further into Yosemite.

Little girl, big woods. See the little pink dot in the bottom picture?

The girls still had fun though. Charlotte thought this puddle was way better than snow.
We had a quick outdoor picnic on a wood stump.
 Oh, she's so cute.
She was sitting on a bench and swinging her legs back and forth. :)

Daniel loves these big trees! We need to go back soon because this place is amazing.
Daniel and Morgan took a little jog on the trail.

The beauty of this place is breathtaking. I can't wait to go back for a redo!
