Random Pictures From This Weekend

Friday night I attended a beautiful bridal shower and brought home one of the gorgeous cupcakes for Morgan. She of course LOVED it. She thought it was pretty too and couldn't wait to eat it.

This past week was hot again but this weekend has been mild and beautiful. Morgan and I took a walk around the neighborhood on Sunday.

She wanted to show me all the treasures she had found during our walk.

Upon her request, I painted her nails. She was so excited about her "pretty nails"! She said she was now a "pretty princess Mommy".

She sure makes me feel great about myself. She's been extra loving lately. She'll scoot herself in close to me and take my arm and wrap it around her. We cuddled on the couch Saturday night and watched the movie Tangled for the first time. She was content to lay there snuggled with me the whole time. She also tells me I'm pretty and I'm a sweatheart. Love that girl! Of course she gets mad at me too. She cried for 30 minutes tonight because I wouldn't let her watch TV but I know that's just the way it goes...

What I'm looking forward to...

Oh gosh! Where do I begin?! I know not all of this may happen but still, I can't help but hope. I'm looking forward to:

- Hearing my baby's first cry
- Looking at Daniel's face when he first lays eyes on her
- Getting to be with my little girl the first few moments/minutes/hours/days of her life
- Being in the hospital and having the staff help show me what to do with our new arrival (All of the above I missed with Morgan, so I find myself really hoping to experience them this time around)
- This sounds so petty but I'm looking forward to having people congratulate us and treat this birth as something positive. No one knew what to say last time. It just wasn't the joyous time I had pictured.
- Camping out in our house for the first few weeks while we go into survival mode. I remember how much I considered our house my little safe haven during the first few months of Morgan's life. I don't think I've ever valued our house so much!
- Watching Morgan's reaction to her new baby sister!
- Getting to see the baby in her bassinet, bouncy seat, and swing for the first time.
- Testing out the whole breast feeding experience again. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done with Morgan because my milk didn't come in for a long time so our feeding rituals took extreme patience from both of us and lasted a minimum of 45 minutes each time. Considering I breastfed Morgan every 3 hours, that meant I got 45 minutes to sleep, eat and use the restroom before it was time to start the whole process again. I think the trauma of what we went through coupled with me not being with her for the first few days caused my milk supply to really struggle. I would really love if things go easier this time but I'll fight just as hard if it doesn't. I remember Daniel kept me going last time with his encouraging words and advice. I don't think I could have continued without him.
- Getting to wrap our new addition in all the receiving blankets and clothes we used for Morgan
- Watching her do all of her firsts
- Seeing what this child looks like and how she acts
- Getting to feel a little more relaxed and knowledgeable this time (hopefully). We'll see!

The weather is starting to cool down which means our little family will be spending more time outside the next few months. My favorite time of year is beginning right now!

Daniel, Morgan and I went to a local park and checked out thier Japanese Gardens.

I thought there was supposed to be lots of flowers so we may have just gone at the wrong time of year. Either way the walk through the gardens was really peaceful and pretty.

Daniel and Morgan checked out some Koi.

There were pretty views everywhere you looked.

Daniel pointed out a squirrel to Morgan.

These guys were everywhere.

Daddy tried pointing out all the fish swimming under the lily pads to Morgan.

Daniel read a book and I soaked up some sunshine while Morgan played on some playground equipment. It was a gorgeous day!

We also took a little nature walk before leaving the park.

She asked to touch the water.

I live for these types of outings! It was a great day.

Go Badgers!

Daniel, Morgan and I went up to Dusty's house to watch my nephew, Chase, play football! He's number 2 (3rd from the left).

His team won!

I always love going up to Dusty's neck of the woods! Enjoying the mountains while getting to watch Chase play sports is always a good time! We even got a little rain, thunder and lighting.

Aunt Dusty shared her sno-cone with Morgan.

Nana and Papa came to watch Chase play too. Morgan had a blast with them! I never underestimate the value of family time.

Morgan didn't get her nap. I thought she was going to fall asleep sitting on Daddy's shoulders. She sat like this with her head resting on his for quite awhile after the game.

We went out to eat afterwards and enjoyed some Mexican food.

The next day it rained a little at our house too. We don't get much here so it's always a refreshing change.

I put rain boots and a rain jacket on Morgan and let her head out to our backyard to splash around.

But then the little stinker took her boots off and started having even more fun splashing around barefoot.

So we headed inside to bake a cake instead.

Right Now

Morgan is watching football with her Daddy. I can hear him in there teaching her about the game and she's just soaking it up! I can hear her yell, "he throw the ball" and "he knocked it down!"

Lately, when you ask her what's in Mommy's belly, she'll reply, "My baby sister!" So cute!! She says she wants to give baby sister a bath and she wants to hold baby sister. She also asks me if baby sister can come out now. Love it!

Don't Want To Forget This!

Daniel and I potty trained Morgan a few months back. I took her shopping and let her pick out undies and stickers. That night Daniel and I made this potty chart (without the stickers of course).

Every time Morgan went potty in the toilet, she got to put a sticker on her potty chart. She loved this game and half way through the chart she was potty trained! It took a couple of weeks with a few accidents here and there but that was it!

Morgan enjoyed hanging out with mom during this past 3-day weekend.

She said the below play-doh masterpiece was a birthday cake for me. She even put the toothpick on top and told me to blow out my candle.

Maggie lays in the most uncomfortable positions sometimes...

I've really been enjoying hanging out with Morgan in her big girl room. Now that the crib is out of there I find myself either laying on Morgan's bed reading her books or just sitting in different spots in her room as we play together. We finally moved all the toys out of our living room and into her room. She's old enough to play in there by herself now and I'm not missing our living room being overrun by toys!
